A 5-day medically supervised fasting protocol to support healing and reduce pain.

A short-term metabolic intervention to reduce inflammation, protect muscle, and support the body's natural repair without surgery.

This is not a diet. It’s a medical intervention.

A 5-day medical and nutritional intervention designed to place the body into a controlled fasting state while protecting essential nutrients and lean tissue. The protocol is informed by the science behind fasting-mimicking diets, which aim to activate key metabolic and cellular repair processes without the risks of complete food deprivation. In Dr. Queler’s practice, this approach is used intentionally and selectively as a short-term therapeutic tool to support healing, not casually or without medical oversight.

We don’t believe pain is an isolated symptom.

Chronic musculoskeletal pain is often driven by inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and impaired tissue repair, all of which can prevent the body from healing effectively. When these underlying factors are not addressed, even the best treatments may fall short.

This 5-day, medically supervised fasting-mimicking intervention is used as a short-term metabolic tool to help reduce inflammation and support the biological processes involved in healing. By temporarily shifting the body into a controlled fasting state, the goal is to create the internal conditions needed for repair, while protecting essential nutrients and lean muscle.

  • Fasting shifts the body into a repair-focused state that helps reduce inflammation and pain. When done under medical guidance, it lowers inflammatory chemicals that contribute to joint stiffness and tissue degeneration, particularly those produced by visceral fat and aging, dysfunctional cells. Fasting also activates autophagy, the body’s natural cellular cleanup process, and increases hormones that support tissue repair and collagen health. Together, these effects can reduce pain and support healing by helping damaged, inflamed tissue regenerate more effectively.

  • Persistent musculoskeletal pain is often driven by an underlying inflammatory and metabolic environment that keeps pain signals active. When done under medical supervision, fasting helps calm neuroinflammation, reduce pain signaling from the nervous system, and lower inflammatory chemicals released by visceral fat. It also activates autophagy, allowing damaged musculoskeletal cells to function more efficiently, and supports tissue repair through stem cell activation. By improving gut integrity and the microbiome, fasting further reduces systemic inflammation that can contribute to chronic joint and soft tissue pain.

  • A fasting-mimicking protocol is designed to deliver the metabolic benefits of fasting while still providing carefully structured nutrition. Its specific composition helps preserve lean muscle by preventing muscle breakdown for energy, while promoting targeted loss of visceral fat. Clinical studies using MRI and DEXA scans show reductions in abdominal fat without loss of lean tissue, with participants averaging about a 1.5-inch reduction in waist circumference after three five-day cycles. The goal is to support cellular repair and metabolic health while maintaining strength and function during this short intervention period.

  • When used appropriately and under medical supervision, fasting shifts the body from a growth and storage state into a repair and regeneration mode. It activates autophagy, a cellular cleanup process that helps remove damaged components and supports soft tissue healing. Fasting also promotes stem cell activity involved in rebuilding injured muscle and connective tissue, while improving hormonal and metabolic balance. Together, these effects reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, allowing tissues to recover more efficiently.

  • Resetting metabolism refers to improving how the body uses energy and regulates inflammation. In an orthopedic context, this shift supports joint and soft tissue health by reducing metabolic factors that interfere with healing. It helps move the body from a pro-inflammatory, accelerated aging state into a more balanced, regenerative environment that supports repair, resilience, and long-term musculoskeletal function.

Regenerate

This 5-day, medically supervised intervention places the body into a controlled fasting state to support cellular renewal and metabolic efficiency. By reducing inflammatory burden, it helps create the internal conditions needed for regeneration as part of musculoskeletal healing.

Renew

Used intentionally, this approach supports a short-term metabolic reset, not a long-term eating plan. It may help renew how the body responds to inflammation and recovery, allowing healing processes to function more effectively within non-surgical orthopedic care.

Repair

By improving metabolic health and lowering systemic inflammation, this intervention may support tissue repair and recovery. In select cases, creating a more favorable healing environment can also support other non-surgical orthopedic treatments.
